ORDER
BY SRI. KRISHNANKUTTY N .K, MEMBER.
1. Pleadings of the complainant.
The complainant and his wife were travelling from Ernakulam to Palakkad with ordinary (unreserved) ticket in the Ernakulam-Coimbatore Fast Passenger Bus operated by the opposite party. His grievance is that when he requested for changing the destination from Palakkad to Kuzhalmannam and refund of the excess fare after about five minutes of issuing the ticket the conductor refused to do so. Another allegation is that when passengers with reservation boarded the bus from other stations, they were asked to vacate the seats and hence, had to travel by another bus from Thrissur to Palakkad. Hence, this complaint is filed seeking compensation of Rs.520/- towards financial loss apart from legal expenses.
2. The complaint was admitted and notice was issued to the opposite party. They entered appearance and filed their version.
3. The case was referred for mediation held on 23.03.2024 but could not be settled.
4. As the complainant has been absent throughout the proceedings, since beginning the case was taken for orders based on merits.
5. From the continuous absence of the complainant during the proceedings of the case, it can be presumed that the complainant is not interested in persuing the case.
Therefore, the complaint is dismissed.
Pronounced in open court on this the 17th day of April, 2024.
