ORDER:

1. Sukhwinder Kaur, complainant has preferred the present complaint against the opposite parties (referred to as OPs in short) on the ground that on the assurance of the OPs no.3 and 4, she invested an amount of Rs.66600/- with OPs on 09.06.2015 and OPs had to repay an amount of Rs.73926/- after one year as maturity amount on 08.06.2016. The OPs issued bond number 666 dated 09.06.2015. After expiry of one year the complainant deposited original bond certificate alongwith all other requisite documents with OPs and fulfill all the formalities. Thereafter the complainant number of times requested the OPs to pay the maturity amount but OPs did not accede the request of the complainant and at last refused to make the payment. Thus, alleging deficiency in service on the part of OPs, the complainant has sought following reliefs:-
i) OPs be directed to refund the maturity amount of Rs.73926/- alongwith interest @18% per annum from the date of maturity till realization,
ii) OPs be directed to pay to the complainant a sum of Rs.10,000/- on account mental agony and harassment,
iii) OPs be directed to pay Rs.10000/- as litigation expenses.
2. None has appeared for OPs despite service and as such OPs were proceeded exparte.
3. The complainant has tendered documents Ex.C-1 to Ex.C-2 and closed evidence.
4. From the perusal of the documents placed on the file, we find that the complainant invested an amount of Rs.66600/- with OPs on 09.06.2015 and OPs had to repay an amount of Rs.73926/- after one year as maturity amount i.e. on 08.06.2016 which is evident from the policy document/bond number 666 dated 09.06.2015 Ex.C-2. The complainant has further stated that after expiry of one year she submitted original bond certificate alongwith all other requisite documents with OPs and fulfill all the formalities and also requested the OPs number of times to pay the maturity amount but OPs did not accede the request of the complainant and at last they refused to make the payment. The OPs have not come forward to contest the case of the complainant rather they chosen to remain exparte. As such, evidence produced by the complainant has gone unrebutted on record.
5. For the reasons recorded above, we allow the complaint and direct the OPs to refund to the complainant an amount of Rs.73926/- alongwith interest @9% per annum from the date of maturity i.e. 08.06.2016 till realization. The OPs are further directed to pay to the complainant a consolidated amount of compensation of Rs.10000/- on account of mental pain, agony, harassment and litigation.
7. This order of ours shall be complied with within 30 days from the date of receipt of copy of the order. A copy of the order be supplied to the parties free of charge. File be consigned to records in due course.
