In the case of‘United India Insurance Co. Ltd Vs Harchand Rai Chandan Lal, AIR 2004 SC 2004’, the hon. Supreme court held that the terms and conditions of the agreement have to strictly construed and no alteration or addition can be made there from.

            In the case in hand, the complainant had purchased four policies from the OP .  The policies were delivered to him on 21.9.2012 , 5.10.2012 and 1.9.2012. There was a fifteen days free-look-in period and an option existed with the complainant to cancel the policies within a period of 15 days of their receipt.  The complainant had written to the  Ops for cancellation of the policies on 13.2.2013.   He had, therefore, failed to exercise the option within the free-look in period of 15 days.  A binding contract had come into being between the parties which cannot be avoided now.  We, therefore, see no merits in the presnt complaint which is hereby dismissed.

Copy of the order be made available to the parties as per rule.
