No one appears for the petitioner. 2. This petition is directed against the order dated 22nd September, 2010 of the Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Chandigarh (in short, “the State Commission”), by which the State Commission slightly modified the order dated 22nd September, 2005 of the Mansa District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Mansa (in short, “the District Forum”) and allowed payment of the amount of the insurance claim, as decided by the District Forum only, with interest @ 9% p.a. In other words, award of Rs.30,000/- also ordered by the District Forum by way of compensation was set aside. 2. The view taken by the State Commission in modifying the order of the District Forum is justified in the light of various judgments of the Supreme Court as well as this Commission holding that when, in such cases, interest at a reasonable rate is allowed, it is construed as compensation for harassment, etc., and no separate compensation is warranted. 3. In view of this, the Revision Petition is dismissed, in limine. |
