The short complaint is that complainant had a insurance policy since 2007. He paid installment of 2008 and 2009. The OP did not renew the policy after 2008, and informed that no premium was received in 2009 and policy was foreclosed. The receipt issued by OP which is computer generated is alleged as fake.

We have gone through the original receipts, emails exchanged between the parties. It appears that OP is simply covering its administrative mistake or imperfection by denying its own receipt by taking a false plea, and dragging its feet in evidence and arguments.

In the circumstances, complainant has lost Rs.60,000/- in premium, without future insurance, due to deficiency of OP by lapse of policy. We award a consolidated compensation of Rs.1 lakh inclusive of amount lost, deficiency & litigation expenses.

The order shall be complied with within 30 days of the receipt of the copy of the order; otherwise action can be taken against OP under Section 25 / 27 of the Consumer Protection Act.

File be consigned to record room.

Copy of the order be sent to the parties free of cost.
