Present:    Both the parties.

It is a case of loss of baggage of complainant in a journey in May 2014. The bag could not be traced till date and OP has admitted this fact by offering a sum of Rs.6,300/- as compensation which was as per old unrevised rate. It is admitted that rates have been revised long time back and OP should have offered compensation at revised rate. OP failed to do so, leading to litigation and unnecessary harassment to the complainant.

OP is directed to pay compensation as per notification available on day of loss at 9% interest from date of loss till payment. We also award Rs.15,000/- for deficiency and Rs.10,000/- for litigation expenses.

The order shall be complied with within 30 days of the receipt of the copy of the order; otherwise action can be taken against OP under Section 25 / 27 of the Consumer Protection Act.

File be consigned to record room.

Copy of the order be sent to the parties free of cost.
