JUDGEMENT & ORDER
Smti Oli Perme, EAC represent the complainant. Mr. Christopher Perme, Advocate represent the respondent M/s Bhuneswar Singh.
Gist of Complaint: District election Officer, East Siang District, Pasighat procured a sofa set of make Godrej from an authorized dealer M/s Bhuneswar Singh, Pasighat in November 2014. Arms of one of the Chair was found broken at the time of supply which have been repaired after much persuasion. Subsequently, arms of one more chair of the same set was broken in due course of time which have not been repaired despite repeated request in verbal and written. With a doubt upon quality of the chair (if such a costly sofa set could develop defects within short period), the complainant submitted this complaint seeking replacement of the set.
On first hearing complainant stated that broken was happened within the coverage of warrantee period. It was also stated that they have persuaded Respondent Dealer repeatedly in verbal on good faith for repairing of the defects but was kept lingering and warrantee period expired.
Mr. Viijoy Taram and Mr. Christopher Perme, Advocate for the Respondent stated that they received the first complaint only in the month of March, 2016, by then warrantee period was already over. Replacement of set after the warrantee period cannot be entertained. However, by stating to maintain good relation with the customers, the Opp. Party has agreed to repair the arms of the chair to the satisfaction of the complainant purchaser.
The complainant informed that the first defect occurred within warranty period, however, only verbal complaint was lodge that time. The respondent has attended that complaint after lapse of two months.
Heard both the parties. It is observed that respondent is not providing satisfactory after sale services to the complainant. The same be recorded for future reference also.
Therefore, the respondent party is hereby directed to repair the defective chair within 7 (seven) days from date of issue of this order. He is also directed to attend consumer complaints whether given in verbal or written within reasonable time frame in future by maintaining a complaint register.
With this the case is disposed of.
