The petition was filed on 24.06.10. The case of the complainant is that he had deposited a sum of Rs.25,000/-(Rupees twenty five thousand only) as asubscriber to “Deepasthambam Project” (accumulated Income Project) run by Opposite parties on 21.04.2006. First opposite party collected the money in favour of opposite party-2. As per the scheme the amount be returned in double with periodical payments of gift amount. Opposite party-2 issued receipts and provisional membership certificate regarding the payment. Opposite party-2 did not pay any amount. The complainant is alleging deficiency in service on the part of the opposite parties for not paying any amount as per the scheme.
Notices sent to opposite parties were served. Opposite parties -1 & 2 were called absent and set exparte. Complainant had filed affidavit along with documents. Documents were marked as Ext.A1 to A4. Forum has verified the documents and looked into all aspects put forward by the complainant. We are of the opinion that opposite parties were deficient in their service.
In the result petition is allowed and opposite parties-1 &2 are liable to refund the deposit amount in double ie Rs.50,000/- along with compensation of Rs.1000/- within one month from the date of receipt of the order.
