ORDER     By Smt. Rajani.P.S, Member:                     The complainant’s case is that the complainant had booked for a sewing machine from the respondent as per the advertisement telecasted in Animal channel on 7.9.10. Subsequently he received a parcel from the post office, Irinjalakuda on payment of Rs.2318/- towards bill amount and Rs.200/- towards the carriage cost. But when the parcel was opened he found a useless toy machine weighing 1.6 kg.  Thus the respondent deliberately cheated the public by way of advertisement. He sent a letter to the respondent on 6.10.10 intimating the matter. But no reply and no remedy. Hence the complaint.             2. The respondent called absent and set exparte.           3. To prove the case of the complainant he filed affidavit and produced Exts. P1 to P3 documents.             4. According to the complainant he had booked for a sewing machine from the respondent on 7.9.10. Thereafter he received a parcel from the post office Irinjalakuda by paying an amount of Rs.2318/- towards bill amount and Rs.200/- towards the carriage cost. But when the parcel was opened he saw a useless toy machine.             5. There is no evidence to the contrary.             6. In the result the complaint is allowed and the respondent is directed to return the Ext. P1 bill amount and carriage cost of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred only) and to take back the toy machine. It is also directed to pay Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) as compensation and Rs.250/- (Rupees two hundred and fifty only) as costs within 2 months from the date of receipt of copy of order.             Dictated to the Confidential Assistant, transcribed by her, corrected by me and pronounced in the open Forum this the 11th day of October 2011.
