          Heard the complainant in person and perused the documents submitted by the complainant. The complainant has SB A/c (No.67480100007392) in Bank of Baroda, Halevoor Branch, Kunigal Taluk and his retirement monetary benefit amount kept in F.D. The OP Bank deducted the TDS amount of Rs.8171/- on 14.12.2023. Therefore, the complainant seeking TDS amount of Rs.8171/- from OP Bank and OP bank replied as under:-

“Since you have not linked PAN with your Aadhar number as per Income Tax Department Government of India guidelines within stipulated time, your PAN was inoperative. Hence, applicable TDS was automatically deducted at the rate of 20% and the TDS amount was remitted by Bank to Income Tax Department. You are advised to take up the refund claim issue with Income Tax Department”.

The OP bank deducted the TDS amount and remitted to the income tax department as per law and procedure. The complainant can claim refund of Rs.8171/- if his income within taxable limits and we do find any flaw in the OP act. Hence, we rejected the complaint.
