In this consumer complaint petitioner has claimed from o.p. refund of his matured F.D. No.F/069703340/1n and F/0697073341/1 alleging deficiency in service on their part as they neglected to pay the amount in spite of repeated demand.
The petitioner deposited Rs.30,000/- (Rs.15000/- each) with the o.p. under Fixed Deposit Scheme vide F.D.R. No.F/0697073340/1 and F/0697073341/1 on 29.8.97.
Said F.D. matured on 29.8.2000. Now petitioner is entitled to refund of principal amount Rs.30,000/- along with interest @ 16% p.a.
The petitioner approached the o.p. on depositing F.D.R. for payment of matured amount along with interest. But o.p. failed and neglected to make payment. Such conduct of o.p. is amounted to deficiency in service on the part of o.p.
In view of the facts consumer complaint succeeds and it is awarded in the following terms.
The o.p. is directed to make payment of matured amount with respect to F.D.R. No.F/0697073340/1 and F/0697073341/1 (minus the amount paid, if any earlier) along with interest @ 8% p.a. from date of maturity till the date of payment.
The o.p. is directed to pay the complainant compensation Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand) only and litigation cost Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred) only.
Let copy of this order be supplied to the parties free of cost.
