Final Order / Judgement

ORDER BY HON’BLE MEMBER- MRS. M. SWAIN:

                                                                                               JUDGMENT

            Complainant has filed this consumer complaint U/s.35 of C.P. Act, 2019 seeking following reliefs;

            “Direct the opposite parties to restore the power supply to the premises of complainant and pay Rs.50,000/- towards compensation and cost of the litigation”.

            Brief fact of the case is that complainant is a permanent resident of village Kulakaijanga of P.S. Biridi, District Jagatsinghpur which is within the jurisdiction of this Commission. Opposite parties supplied to the complainant electric current in the year 2019 vide consumer No.04467111 under Soubhagyajyoti Scheme. The complainant regularly paid electric bill to the opposite parties and obtain receipt from them. The opposite parties without any reason and prior notice to the complainant disconnect the power supply to the premises of the complainant in the month of February, 2021, hence this complaint.

            Complainant submitted following documents in support his case;

  1. Electric bills
  2. Money receipts

Notice was issued to the opposite parties on 04.3.2021 for appearance. On 16.4.2021 opposite parties submitted the written version and stated that an arrear outstanding of Rs.895.02 paisa was pending on the consumer as per ledger and due to nonpayment of arrear the power supply was disconnected in the premises of complainant. As per interim order dtd.04.3.2021 the opposite parties restore the power supply to the premises of complainant on 12.3.2021.

As the prayer of complainant is to restore the power connection to his premises and already the opposite parties restore the power supply. The complainant shall pay the arrear dues of Rs.895.02 paisa in two installments to the opposite parties with regular monthly electric bill in order to avoid the disconnection of power supply to his premises. With the above observation and direction the consumer complaint is disposed of without any cost.
