ORDER

By Smt. Padmini Sudheesh, President: The case of the petitioner is that the first respondent is the Branch/Agent of the 2nd respondent and 2nd respondent is an institution conducting computer courses. Complainant is an unemployed person. The respondents advertised in Malayala Manorama daily that the persons who attend the course conducted by the respondents will be provided with employment with minimum salary of Rs.4000/- per month. Believing the words the complainant joined the course and Rs.8000/- paid. The respondents did not complete the course. They have not even provided the course materials. The respondents failed to perform the promises made by them. They are also failed to ensure employment. The act of the respondents amounts to deficiency in service. Hence this complaint. 2. The respondents are declared exparte. 3. To prove the case, complainant has filed affidavit and three documents, which are marked as Exts. P1 to P3. 4. According to the complainant, he is entitled for the amount paid and compensation and costs. 5. There is no evidence to the contrary. 6. In the result, the complaint is allowed and the respondents are directed to return an amount of Rs.8000/- (Rupees eight thousand only) to the complainant with interest at the rate of 12% per annum from 24.8.04 and 6% interest from today till realisation. Respondents are further directed to pay Rs.2500/- (Rupees two thousand and five hundred only) towards compensation and Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) towards costs. Comply the order within a month. Dictated to the Confidential Assistant, transcribed by her, corrected by me and pronounced in the open Forum, this the 31st day of July 2008.
