NAWAB SINGH J, (ORAL)
Anil Kumar-complainant (appellant) applied for electric connection of the shop in the name of his mother Smt. Chameli Devi and deposited Rs.3450/- with the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVNL). When the connection was not released, Chhote Lal-father of complainant sought an information under Right to Information Act from DHBVNL. DHBVNL released the electric connection only in record but it was factually never released. Hence, the complaint.
2. In its reply, DHBVNL pleaded that on April 15th, 2011, DHBVNL gave direction on telephone to release the electric connection by installing the meter of the Nigam but the said electric connection could not released on account of non-availability of electric meter. When the electric meter was available with the DHBVNL, the electric connection was released to the complainant on December 05th, 2012.
3. The complaint was partly accepted by the District Forum vide order dated April 21st, 2015 and awarded Rs.5000/- as compensation to the complainant for mental agony and harassment.
4. Aggrieved of the order, the complainant has filed the present appeal.
5. Learned counsel for the appellant has urged that the amount of compensation awarded is on lower side and deserves enhancement.
6. Indisputably, the electric connection has ready been released to the complainant. The District Forum directed the DHBVNL to pay Rs.5000/- as compensation for mental agony and harassment. This Commission is of the view that the complainant-appellant has been adequately compensated and no case for interference in the impugned order is made out.
7. The appeal is therefore dismissed.
