ORDER

Order dated 22.01.2009 Complaint NO. 129/2009 Dated : 22.01.2009 ORDER Complainant present. The complainant has requested that opposite party Bharti Airtel Ltd. be directed to stop sharing his mobile number with others and not to interfere his private life and privacy. The complainant is a subscriber of Airtel post paid mobile No. 9731933111. He has subscribed for Do not Disturb service on September 23, 2008 via registration No. 1007454201. It is the case of the complainant that despite said registration he continued to receive the unwanted calls from various telemarketers offering various things. The complainant has filed complaints with the customer care several times. The complainant has given complaint numbers also. Mobile number was taken for his family members. He submitted that the Airtel has intervened into his privacy causing him mental harassment. Therefore, he requested that Hon’ble forum to look into the matter and ask Bharti Airtel to stop sharing his mobile number with others. 2. The matter was heard personally. The submission of complainant is quite just, fair and proper. The opposite party company is not supposed to intervene or interfere into private life of the customers. The opposite party company should not unnecessarily disturb the privacy of its esteemed customers. The complainant is subscriber of Airtel post paid mobile and he has also subscriber for Do not Disturb service. So when this is the case the opposite party company should not allow the unwanted and unnecessary calls of various telemarketers. It is unfortunate that even though the complainant has lodged his complaints to the customer care, the company has not taken proper steps to stop sharing of his mobile no. with others. The customer was boss in the past, is at present and will be in the future. He is the king. It is the duty and obligation of the service provider to serve the customers to their satisfaction. A customer is a most important visitor in the premises of the service provider. He is not dependent on the service provider. On the other hand the service providers are dependent on him. The grievance of the complainant is understandable. He has taken mobile connection for the use of himself and family members. He shall not be disturbed unnecessarily by unwanted calls. It is unfortunate that even though the complainant has subscribed for Do not Disturb service still he is getting unwanted calls. This means it is definitely deficiency in service. In the manual of practice Airtel Company says Airtel strives to ensure the highest quality of service to customers. Nodal Officers for each circle are appointed. The customers can send e-mail or letter or call and register the complaint. The Nodal Officer will ensure resolution of complaint within 10 days. The customer can also approach appellate authority should the need arise. The customer can reach Airtel toll free contact center by dialing 121 or through any of Airtel relationship centers or through website. It is stated in the manual that the service team will be delighted to serve the customers and to resolve service issue at the earliest. With this Manual Practice I hope the Airtel Company will immediately take steps in stopping the unnecessary and unwanted calls. The Airtel Company shall attend the grievances of the complainant immediately with an apologetic note. I hope that after receipt of this order the opposite party company will take corrective steps immediately with intimation to this forum and also to the complainant. 3. Send the copy of this Order to both the parties free of costs immediately. 4. Pronounced in the Open Forum on this 22ND DAY OF JANUARY 2009. MEMBER MEMBER PRESIDENT
