ORDER

By Smt. C.S. Sulekha Beevi, President, 1. According to the complainant he is the consumer for supply of electrical energy by opposite parties to his house as well as to his industrial establishment. Both these connections were availed by remitting OYC and CD deposits. Therefore complainant is the owner of the electric meters, to these connections. Opposite parties are collecting rent for the electric meters at the rate of Rs.20/- per month. That he is not liable to pay the same and seeks refund of the amount already paid. 2. Opposite parties have filed joint version admitting that complainant is a consumer. Out of the two connections, the supply to his industrial establishment was given under the SSI category by remitting CD of Rs.3500/- and the domestic connection was given under OYEC deposit overlooking priority. That amounts have not been collected as price of the meter and hence the rent for the meter is collected as per government orders 403/2002 Plg Com. 3809 dated, 5/4/2002. Ext.A1 is the electricity bill dated, 14-1-2003. Meter rent in Ext.A1 is Rs.20/- complainant has not produced any document to show that he has paid the price of the meter separately while availing the connection. Opposite parties have submitted that they are bound to collect the rent as per existing rules and that complainant is only a consumer of the electricity meter and not the owner. Complainant has failed to establish and prove any case in his favour. In the result we dismiss the complaint with no order as to costs. Dated this 3rd day of December, 2007. C.S.
