By Smt. C.S. Sulekha Beevi, President 1. Complainant challenges the electricity bill issued by opposite party for Rs.4798/- dated, 21-8-07. Opposite party filed version stating that on receiving complaint regarding bill the meter was checked using a parallel meter and was found to be correct. The bill is issued based on meter readings and complainant is liable to pay the same. 2. Evidence consists of affidavits filed by both sides. Exts.A1 to A5 marked on the side of complainant. Exts.B1 to B3 marked on behalf of opposite party. 3. According to complainant his average consumption of electricity was 300 units. Ext.A1 is the disputed bill dated, 21-8-2007 for Rs.4798/-. The units consumed is 1121 units. On receiving the bill complainant has immediately addressed his grievance to opposite party. The meter was checked by fixing parallel meter. Ext.B2 is the report of checking the meter. It shows a sudden spurt of 1121 units in the reading noted on 21-8-07. Prior to this the units consumed is less than 300 units. Ext.B2 supports the case of the complainant to be probable and believable. Complainant is entitled to pay charges only for actual energy consumed. We find that Ext.A1 is issued without proper basis. 4. In the result, complaint allowed. We order Ext.A1 bill for Rs.4798/- as cancelled. Opposite party is ordered to issue revised bill for the said period 6/2007 to 8/2007 taking into consideration average consumption of energy prior to six months. Any amount already remitted by complainant towards Ext.A1 bill shall be adjusted to revised bill and future bills by opposite party if necessary. Dated this 19th day of March, 2008. C.S.
