The case record is put up today for orders.
The case of the complainant as made out from the complaint petition in short is that he is a bonafide consumer of electric energy under O.P No.2 having electric connection consumer no.SED-20532525(domestic) which stands in the name of his grandmother Late Duri Sahoo. According to the complainant the energy bills were collected by the agency of the O.Ps namely RUPL and the energy rent was paid by the complainant on each month. Money receipts were being collected by the complainant to that effect from the said RUPL. Out of the said money receipts the complainant had managed to preserve only two copies. Subsequently CESU charged energy dues from the complainant without adjusting the amount paid by the complainant to the RUPL and the complainant was compelled to clear the outstanding dues. The complainant was issued disconnection notice by O.Ps and the O.P had made excess charges without calculating the load factor of the complainant. O.P.No.2 has also not sent any meter reader for the last two years. The O.Ps have demanded an arrear amount of Rs.26,672/- from the complainant for which the complainant has filed this case claiming compensation from the O.Ps to the tune of Rs.50,000/- and a sum of Rs.20,000/- towards litigation cost.
2. Since because the O.Ps have not contested this case in spite of several reminders, they were set exparte vide order dt.10.9.2020.
3. The complainant on the other hand has filed copies of all supportive documents to prove his case.
From the uncontested pleading and available documents as filed by the complainant in this case, this Commission directs the O.Ps to settle the dispute with the complainant within a month hence and to pay compensation of Rs.5000/- to the complainant.
Order pronounced in the open court on the 7th day of May,2022 under the seal and signature of this Commission.
