This appeal coming up before us on 22.12.2021 for appearance of both and for arguments this Commission made the following order in open court:

This appeal has been filed as against the order of the District Commission, Kancheepuram @ Chengalpattu, passed in C.C.No.60/2018, dated 08.05.2019, partly allowing the complaint.
The above consumer complaint was filed by the complainant/respondent herein against the opposite parties/ appellants herein alleging deficiency in service by not honouring the claim made by the complainant and after enquiry the District Commission allowed the complaint directing the opposite parties 1 to 4 jointly and severally to pay a sum of Rs.99,967/- with interest at the rate of 9% per annum from the date of complaint (04.05.2018) till the date of order (08.05.2019) and also to pay a sum of Rs.20,000/- as compensation for mental agony with cost of Rs.10,000/-against which this appeal has been preferred by the opposite parties 1 to 4.
When the appeal was pending enquiry, the matter was referred to Lok Adalat held on 15.12.2021 for amicable settlement between parties where the matter was settled at Lok Adalat among the parties on certain terms. Accordingly, the appellants 1 to 4/opposite parties 1 to 4 shall pay a sum of Rs.60,000/- (Rupees Sixty thousand only) to the 1st respondent/ complainant within two weeks as full and final settlement. In turn, the 1st respondent/complainant agreed to withdraw the mandatory deposit by the appellant/opposite party made before this Commission.
In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties at Lok Dalat on 15.12.2021, the appeal is disposed of accordingly.
The Registry is directed to discharge the mandatory deposit in favour of the appellants 1 to 4/opposite parties 1 to 4 with accrued interest thereon.
